The communication center clerk is responsible for routing incoming calls in an efficient and courteous manner, handling visitor questions, performing various computer functions, and carrying out clerical and support functions.
Responsibilities
Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS BROOKVILLE policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations
Answers and relays switchboard calls in a professional manner.
Performs end of day procedures effectively and efficiently.
Distributes incoming mail and processes outbound mail.
Enters data effectively and efficiently.
Processing cheques received via mail (coping, stamping, running 2 tabs)
After hours In-patient/Out-patient registration
Assists by serving as weekend back-up and taping procedures.
Looks up patient account balances and accept payments.
Files patient registrations
Demonstrates knowledge with insurance authorizations.
Demonstrates a knowledge of Navi-net, Promise, Medicare, UPMC
General duties as directed.
Qualifications
High School Graduate or Equivalent required
Previous healthcare experience preferred
Excellent communication skills
Typing skills
Customer Service skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
